Matthew 28: 1- 10 “Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. And behold there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here for he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.’ So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, ‘Greetings!’ And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.’”
What joy! He’s alive! The waiting and wondering is over! His words were true, death could not keep Him down! The victory has been won!
The song “In Christ Alone” expresses the message powerfully! (Getty, Keith; Getty Music 2006)
“In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—Here in the love of Christ I stand.” (verse 1)
“No guilt in life, no fear in death—This is the pow’r of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.” (verse 4)
