Our choir is singing some beautiful songs for this year’s Cantata. One of my favorites is this one, “Start at the Manger” (Words & Music by Robert Sterling & Deborah Craig-Claar     Word Music  Nashville, TN)    Let me quote just the first few lines:

Start at the manger on a cold winter night. Look for the star in the sky, and follow its light.                                                                             It leads to a Savior for a world that is lost. Start at the manger, then go to the cross.

Just as I wrote in my last entry that Advent is more than decorating for the festive Christmas season, it is “preparing for His Coming!”; it is important to remember the reason Jesus was born and came to earth.  It was a humble, simple beginning, but for a harsh and painful purpose.  The amazing thing is the tremendous LOVE with which Jesus willingly did this for us! “For the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross…” Hebrews 12:2

Jesus came to be our bridge to the Father, the one who understands our weaknesses and cares (Hebrews 4:12, I Peter 5:7).  When we sing the beautiful and beloved Christmas carols, let us sing with deep joy and appreciation to Him who gave us such an incredible, eternal gift!!

JOY  TO THE WORLD….the LORD IS COME!

Have a blessed Christmas and New Year!
